Christmas Cheers At Hospitals, Welfare Homes

KOTA KINABALU: Smiles, joy and hope were brought to about 700 people in hospitals and welfare homes around Kota Kinabalu Through a series of visits by Glory Christian Centre, an independent church in the city.

In conjunction with the Christmas season and in line with the church’s Christmas theme ‘I Have A Dream’, members of its Community Care and Senior Citizen ministries visited six institutions so far in December.

They began with a Christmas party with residents of the Sri Prichard old folks’ home at Kinarut on Dec 2, followed by a visit at the Likas Hospital (Dec 5), Hospital Mesra (Dec 9), Renewal Life Centre and Care Haven Orphanage (Dec 10) and Beaufort Hospital (Dec 16).

“Other than bringing a little festive joy to the residents of these homes, we want to inspire them to have dreams, because dreams bring hope, and some do come true in God,” said a spokesman of GCC.

GCC’s Christmas events kicked off with a Christmas party for senior citizens. About 110 participants aged 60 and older attended.

A two-hout music theater entitled ‘I Have a Dream’ was staged on Dec 18 in the 2,500 capacity GCC Auditorium at Damai. This was followed by the Christmas eve service from 10pm-12am on Dec 24, and GCC’s 17th anniversary from 9-11am will be on Jan 2, 2011. Further information can be found in GCC’s website gcc.org.my.
